Cover reveal: Serpent’s Mark

After all these years of effort, it’s finally time: Serpent’s Mark, the first book in the fantasy series I’ve always wanted to write, is coming out in just a few months. The scheduled release date?

March 28, 2020.

When I set out to write these stories, I never imagined it would take me so long to get them into the hands of readers. Even so, I’m excited to see where things will go from here. There’s still a lot of work to be done, completing edits and getting everything formatted and proofed, but I’m hoping it’ll all move forward with no delays.

One of the most challenging aspects of this project–aside from the writing, that is–was the cover. I went through so many concepts, searching for something I thought would work across the whole series. Eventually, I realized it was going to need original art.

I had a rough idea of what I wanted on the first book: Firal, one of the main characters, walking with her lantern in the ruins. The ruins are such an integral part of the story, it only made sense to include them. After what seemed a stressful eternity, the cover was finally done at the beginning of November.

Here it is: The Snakesblood Saga book one, Serpent’s Mark.

There will be a full wrap, but that artwork’s coming later–the back cover text  still needs to be finalized, as does the spine. For right now, it’s incredible to see things finally coming together, and I can’t wait for this one to hit virtual shelves at the end of March.

What do you think of the cover? I personally am satisfied, though I think the wall to the right of Firal is strangely my favorite part of the whole image.

I can think of no better way to bring in the new year than sharing this with all of you. May 2020 be a beautiful and blessed year for us all!
